Pembrokeshire holds some of the finest walking terrain in Britain. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park — Wales's only coastal National Park — wraps 186 miles of cliff-top path around the south-west corner of Wales, from the wild Atlantic headlands above St Davids to the sheltered tidal reaches of the Daugleddau Estuary. The sea cliffs here are among the tallest and most dramatic on the British coast, broken by sea stacks, blowholes and hidden coves. Signs throughout the park appear in Welsh alongside English: this is a living Welsh-speaking landscape.
Inland, the Preseli Hills rise to modest but genuinely wild moorland. These hills provided the bluestones of Stonehenge — ancient quarried rock dragged hundreds of miles — and the upland plateau is still scattered with Neolithic standing stones, stone circles and hillforts. On clear days you can see Ireland. Beaches like Barafundle Bay, Marloes Sands and Whitesands near St Davids rank among the best in Wales, though many carry seasonal restrictions and the seal pupping season (September–November) brings additional responsibilities around any pups or hauled-out adults on the shoreline.
Pembrokeshire's obstacles are unusually complex. Ground-nesting seabirds on cliff tops close certain path sections from April to July — or require dogs on leads through the most sensitive stretches. The Castlemartin military range occupies a large sweep of the southern coast and opens only when the army isn't firing, announced weekly. Tidal sections near Stackpole can strand walkers who don't check before they set out. St Davids Head to Strumble Head offers some of the loneliest cliff-top walking in Wales. Luups finds the open sections clear of seasonal seabird closures and plots routes that suit your dog's confidence on exposed, windward terrain with no shelter for miles.
The Preseli Hills are largely access land — ancient, open and genuinely quiet. Luups maps Carn Ingli, the stone circles and the ridgeline tracks, and flags the route as a strong alternative when coastal paths are closed or packed in high summer.
The Daugleddau Estuary cuts inland through wooded tidal valleys — quiet, sheltered and excellent for dogs that find exposed cliff paths stressful. Luups routes through the tidal creek network where the ground is firm and the views are gentle.

Most of it, yes. Some sections near seabird colonies are closed or lead-required April–July. The Castlemartin range section is only open when the military aren't firing (roughly half the year, announced weekly). Luups routes around current closures.
Many are excellent — Barafundle (National Trust, no road access, year-round dogs), Marloes Sands (seasonal restrictions on small section only), Whitesands (restrictions May–Sept on the main beach). During seal pupping season, keep dogs clear of any seals on beaches.
Open moorland with ancient monuments — stone circles, standing stones, hillforts. Largely access land. Quieter and less dramatic than the coast but genuinely wild. Good alternative when coastal paths are busy in summer.
Some coastal path sections are tide-dependent (particularly around the Stackpole area). Luups checks tide times and avoids routing you onto sections that require timing around the tide, unless you've confirmed you're comfortable with it.
